2022.01.19 04:17 pynaple I worked for one of the richest men in Canada, twice

I just wanted to share my story of my personal experience, and how I broke out of the system of low paid jobs. I work for myself now, and I'm still below the poverty line, but it's getting better and better in leaps and bounds. I will never, ever go back to working for somebody else.
I started work at a fabrication company about five years ago. This company was named after the owner, one of the richest men in Canada, and was just one of many enterprises he has expanded into. The nature of the work is largely irrelevant here, but I came in as an entry level assembly worker. After a year of learning and hard work, I was the assistant to the CNC table operator, who was 63 and just about to retire, and I was the only assistant. I felt well placed to have a good future with the company, especially as they had just bought a brand new CNC table for us and the lead operator was open about the fact that I'd get his job when he retired. I had a lot of pushback when I asked for a raise though. You had to join an electrical union when you started, and there was a pay grid, so I was surprised at initially being offered a raise based off of just being an assembly worker. The CNC grid was $3-4 more an hour than assembly, and while I didn't have all the skills to move up in assembly, I was second from top tier in CNC based on their own criteria. After about a month of delays and three meetings where I refused to take anything less than the wage their own paperwork said I should get, I got it. More fool me, I actually worked harder for quite a while, because I was happy with the fair outcome.
Here's the kicker, and when I started to lose faith. For months, work had been trickling in, but we were told we were busier than ever. Supplies started getting rerouted so we couldn't work on the few jobs we had. People started to get suspicious, and most of us had asked the Foreman what was going on; was the plant closing? Were we not getting orders? We all got told it was fine, we're not closing, it's all good. A few weeks later, on a Thursday, we were all given our two weeks notice. The plant was closing. 80 people stood around, so obviously shocked and upset that management told everyone to go home for the day, with 80% of the regular pay for the day (we'd only been there a couple hours of an 8 hour shift). Some of these people, including my CNC lead, had worked there for 35+ years. There was no severance offered. You had the option to try and get a spot for two additional weeks of work to help empty the building, at double the regular rate. That was it.
When I came back to work the next day, I went upstairs immediately to hand in my resignation. I'd talked to my lead hand the day before, and there wasn't enough work for both of us. I had gotten incredibly lucky with a job offer just days before, and it made the most sense to just call it that day and leave. I waited for three hours while being told "just a few more minutes to see the boss", holding my resignation letter. It was at the point where he opened the door, looked at me, and pointedly looked away that I stood up, crumpled up my resignation, and threw it in the trash. I turned and walked out of the office without looking back, said a few goodbyes and thank-yous and took my tools, never to return.
Jump forward a few years, and I'd been through a bit of a rough patch. I found myself working a grocery clerk job for the same rich jerk. This is a huge chain, and I can find some of the numbers. They make several million in profit, per store, per year, with about 180 stores. I worked six months, got the hours for a scheduled raise (this job was also unionized), and asked for it. I thought that, like the last time, I could negotiate a fair wage. That was not the case. I was told, in as many words, that 10ยข was all I would get no matter what. This was right as COVID was getting going in 2020, and so I'd spent the last several weeks wiping down every conceivable surface with disinfectant so diluted it did nothing. I about tore that fellows head off when he told me (he was the assistant manager), then went straight to the manager and voiced my concerns. The manager was actually understanding, but completely helpless. His understanding of my frustration was the only reason I didn't walk out right then, but I told him in no uncertain terms that I'll finish my scheduled shifts and then I am gone.
So, now I run a handyman company. I put myself in debt to friends and family members building a product, but the prototype didn't influence any crowdfunding response. After that debacle, I ran out my EI and didn't want to work for anyone else, and I just started fixing things. Right now, I could be making more at a fast food place, but I'm actually happy and enjoying my life. I don't dread waking up and going to work, and my business is growing quickly. I wanted to tell people to try something on their own, even if it seems stupid. Work for Yourself. I never thought you could make money putting up blinds, patching drywall, and other odd jobs, but you can, and quite a bit! I'm never going to be a millionaire, but screw that, I just want to survive and be happy. Start your own business, it's easier than you think, and you don't have to worry about a lot of the taxes, registration and fees until you're making a pretty decent amount of money.
Eat The Rich.

Like the title says luffy in gear fourth overwhelmed doflamingo with a few hits while a significantly stronger luffy at the start of the arc did no damage to kaido? How many times is kaido stronger than Mingo? 10? 50?100?

2022.01.19 04:17 chickenagges Orders to Yokosuka, Japan

So, I've gotten orders to Yokosuka Japan and on the check list i need to do a debt-to-income ratio sheet. I know for a fact my debt isn't under 30% but I've been managing it obviously since I've enlisted. I was just worried/ wondering if having too much debt will prevent me from fulfilling my orders.
